Description
The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for 1.0 FTE Apprentice Custodians. This position will primarily work second shift (2:00 pm-10:00 pm) and will float throughout the district where needed. Successful candidate must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
Position Responsibilities
- Substitute for custodians in school buildings, able to perform their duties and available to work varying work shifts.
- Frequent annual task:
- Job requires heavy physical demands, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, smelling, and good/corrected vision.
- Deliveries from Central storage and preparation kitchens to schools. Moving furniture and equipment between buildings.
- Occasional annual task:
- Job requires heavy physical demands, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, smelling, and good/corrected vision.
- Major summer clean-up, minor repairs and painting of buildings, sites and equipment.
- Frequent seasonal task:
- Job requires heavy physical demands, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, smelling, and good/corrected vision.
- Assist in maintaining site including mowing, trimming, vegetation control, equipment inspection and policing during the summer; and ice and snow removal at entrances and sidewalks during the winter.
- Occasional seasonal task:
- Job requires heavy physical demands, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reading, handling, feeling, hearing, smelling, and good/corrected vision.
- Positively interact with students, staff, parents and the public, demonstrating the School District of La Crosse Core Values.
- Other duties deemed necessary by the supervisor.
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma and driver's license. Required to read and write at a level that would enable the apprentice custodian to interpret written communication effectively.
- Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Physically able to fulfill the job related responsibilities. Actual employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a Job Specific Screening.
- Ability to effectively work by themselves and in a team environment.
- Ability to positively interact with students, staff, parents and the public.
