What does your job entail

To keep up with the exponential growth of our Dutch ID and Lovens brands, we are looking for a Engineer for our factory in Taiwan. As an Engineer at Optima Cycles you translate the designs from the design department in the Netherlands into production-ready designs in Taiwan. This includes production techniques, materials, strength, stiffness, series sizes and all steps in the production process.

Other activities include:

• At the start of a project you share the production requirements that are important for a design.
• You ensure a successful start of a design by identifying the correct design parameters.
• You optimize proposed designs based on weight, price, manufacturability, stiffness, etc.
• You prepare the designs, made by the design team in the Netherlands, for production.
• You make technical drawings using CAD Software.
• You report to the Head of R&D.
• You are responsible for the manufacturability of the constructed parts.

Who is Optima Cycles

Optima Cycles develops and produces Dutch ID e-bikes and Lovens electric cargo bikes. In the Netherlands we have our sales, marketing, planning and assembly departments, in Taiwan we have our production and a wide network of suppliers. Our beautiful factory is located in the heart of Taiwan's bicycle industry, Dajia District, where a proud local team works.

Our Dutch owner lives and works in Taiwan. A Dutch supply chain manager, whom you will work closely with, also works here. Both our team and our production capabilities are continuously growing. We foresee much more growth and expansion in the coming years. This puts our company in a very interesting phase.

Who are you

You are an experienced engineer with strong communication skills. You know the Asian culture and how to find your way around it. You share your milestones and can clearly explain why certain choices should be made at what time. With your planning and analytical skills you can switch quickly and see problems as challenges. You are a real team player, can work to tight deadlines and know how to monitor progress. You have experience in making 2D drawings for manufacturing; adding dimensions and tolerances to drawings. For this position you are willing to move to Taiwan for a longer period of time.

You also have:

• Passion for technology and production.
• Affinity with the bicycle industry
• Completed higher technical education such as Mechanical Engineering.
• 5 or more years work experience in a similar position.
• Extensive experience with the Asian culture and production world.
• Fluent Dutch and/or English language skills.
