We are looking for a ESG and Sustainability Manager who will lead sustainable operations services for our client in a national level. The Manager will apply subject matter expertise and thought leadership to support our client's large and high-profile Real Estate portfolio in building sustainability and ESG management strategies. This role is also responsible for delivering the ESG and broader sustainability scope within JLL's overall scope of service to our client.
The key deliverables of the role are to drive ESG and environmental sustainability programs across the property and build a wider sustainability framework in line with the client sustainability objectives including energy efficiency, environmental compliance and ESG management, project management, net zero strategic planning, decarbonization and stakeholder engagement.
This role will be based on site with the client, and will interact daily with Account personnel to gain support for the ESG and sustainability program, and align the service delivery with broader strategic objectives.
Career Level Definition
At this level, this role requires specialized depth and/or breadth of ESG and sustainability expertise and client engagement experience with senior management exposure. The candidate will be expected to lead the development of sustainability services and value propositions, including integrated solutions into a single broad offering. They will drive the sustainability solutions and ESG management services to enhance portfolio maintenance and operations and lead the development of the client's ESG and sustainability service.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Provide strategic guidance to the client to help implement decarbonization projects and environmental management strategies.
- Manage client engagements focused on developing decarbonization strategies, quantifying potential impacts in climate-based scenario models, target/goal setting, environmental reporting, and leading the solution development effort for environmental and emissions-based challenges.
- Support ESG disclosure and reporting to comply the local regulations and external standards and frameworks such as IFRS/ISSB, GRI, UNGC and UN SDG.
- Develop and execute compliance implementation to ESG reporting requirements.
- Responsible for the successful development and delivery of all activities related to assigned environmental data collection and compliance with the client's environmental management system (ISO 14001), with the support of a dedicated delivery team Responsible for energy tracking and investigation across the portfolio, delivering against targeted reductions in water, waste and energy in line with the client's service delivery requirements.
- Support client relationships and business development efforts such as proposal development, identifying target clients, and developing solution-based service delivery strategies.
- Collaborating effectively with other JLL service lines on the account (Real Estate, Finance, Projects, FM and procurement) to deliver an integrated energy and environmental sustainability solution and internal/external environmental compliances to the client.
- Maintaining strong relationships and an appropriate governance structure with key client stakeholders.
- Delivering and overseeing accurate and timely critical reporting, including internal, corporate and legislative reporting requirements
- Delivering and overseeing sustainability initiatives such as green leases and waste reduction.
- Delivering cost savings across the portfolio.
- Coordinating effectively with the client to secure funding and approvals for projects, and liaise with project managers, designers and consultants to ensure works are delivered to a high standard, and that savings are achieved as anticipated
- Effectively tracking and communicating success stories to ensure a high level of awareness and engagement is achieved with regard to the overall energy and sustainability program.
- Demonstrating innovative thinking and proactive management in bringing new ideas and solutions to the client, and ensuring they are rolled out effectively.
- Providing strategic direction and guidance on ways to enhance and expand service delivery to the client, with their approval, including leveraging supply chain partners, internal collaborations and the broader ESG and Environmental Sustainability Services team, to ensure that the client is well placed for long-term growth and success in the energy and sustainability area
- Development and delivery of training and educational materials based on JLLs best practice knowledge from around the world. The ESG and Sustainability Lead will be an on-call resource for stakeholders to direct questions around implementation of ESG, Sustainability and Environmental obligations.
- Ensuring that all activities under our operational control are conducted and operated in accordance with relevant environmental legislation and/or guidelines. Additionally, the Regional Sustainability Lead shall periodically monitor risks that may be outside of operational control to ensure that environmental risks are under adequate control.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited institution
- GRI, TCFD, ISSB, GHG Protocol, ESG, Science-Based Target Initiatives (SBTi) or other related credentials and knowledge
- Approximately 10+ years of applicable experience
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and environmental compliance and/or other ISO sustainability and carbon management standards is highly desired.
- Highly entrepreneurial, agile and organized with strong analytical skills
- Knowledge of technologies for energy and sustainability initiatives and familiarity with how to develop business cases for investment in energy and sustainability technologies and strategies
- Experience in developing business cases for investment in technology or performance optimization (turnkey costs, detailed projected energy savings, ROI, IRR, etc.)
- Working knowledge of global/industry ESG trends and their application in commercial real estate
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with executive level external and internal clients as well as external team members (architects, contractors, client's representatives, etc.)
- Ability to develop and cultivate business relationships with existing and prospective clients
- Ability to lead individuals across a national platform to deliver superior results in client service
- Experience working with landlords, developers, tenants, real estate investment managers, and institutional owners
