Job Description

Job Description

This role is an extension of Intel's design team called Foundry Technology Pathfinding. Foundry Technology Pathfinding evaluates technology options for future Intel products.

As a Foundry Technology Pathfinding Systems Engineer, you will work on assessing system-level performance, power, and cost of monolithic SoCs and disaggregated SiPs.

You will interface with a diverse group of experts spanning architecture, design, and foundry providers to identify the set of technologies that meets product needs.

As an Systems Engineer you may interface with the standard cell, memory, and product teams to co-optimize product-level specifications for performance, power, and cost.

Responsibilities include evaluation of existing IP blocks with next node, emerging, and disruptive technologies, evaluating trade-offs of the disaggregation strategy, and exploring and defining new approaches and novel architectures for SoC disaggregation based on technology and packaging options.

Roles may include analysis of technology PPA entitlement at the device, standard cell, figure-of-merit circuit, IP block, and/or SRAM macro-level to assess the changes to overall product specifications. This may include proposing design alternatives to meeting performance, power, area, and timing constraints. This role is to review, challenge, and influence cross-functional roadmaps and define technology targets for future SoCs and SiPs. You will be collaborating with architects, design engineers, system engineers, and verification engineers to improve the overall design of SoC and overcome constraints.

A Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate

  • Knowledge of PPA assessment methodologies, design-technology co-optimization at chip-level, and how these translate to system-level specifications including firmware, hardware, platform specifications.
  • Understanding of physical design at block and full-chip level, and 3D-IC integration and emerging 3D-IC tool flows.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages like Python, Perl / TCL, or similar languages.
  • Familiar with emerging technology trends and competitive landscape for both monolithic and heterogeneous integration technologies. Good problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.

5+ years of hands-on experience in experience in device characterization, circuit simulation, SRAM bitcell and macro-level characterization, process integration, physical design (synthesis, clock-tree synthesis, place and route, static timing analysis, power, and IR-drop analysis), or PDK development in advanced CMOS technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.

Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.
