What's the role
The incumbent is responsible for all legal and compliance topics for Hilti in Mainland China and a member of management team of Hilti China and 4 production plants in China (including R&D centre and sourcing centre) in driving sustainable and profitable growth.
What does the role involve
- General Legal Support: Provide legal support to all Hilti entities in China (sales office, 4 production plants and 1 minority JV), in line with Hilti Group requirements and working closely with management in China, including:
- Commercial and operation support, including the drafting, reviewing, negotiating and acting as legal business partner in commercial/project contracts, with strong focus on commercial/project-related sales (e.g. project owner/EPC/shipyards) and procurement contracts, project correspondences/notices, NDAs, logistics/services contracts, product liability/warranty documents, reseller/dealer/distributor agreements & management, and other legal/commercial documents.
- Corporate matters, including advising and managing matters relating to joint ventures of Hilti in China.
- Direct Procurement support, including sourcing, R&D and other contractual aspects for the development and sourcing center, and the 4 Hilti production plants in China.
- Offer legal advice and support on product liability topics - including assisting in handling customer complaints and product recalls.
- Legal / compliance risk assessment and advisory on Hilti's business operations in China, include the evaluation of potential new business models proposed by Hilti's China team.
- Support as required to employment law, data protection and data compliance and other general legal matters - supporting the advisory and contentious work in collaboration with external law firm.
- Compliance Supporting: Be the local compliance officer of Hilti in China and be responsible for the roll-out, monitoring/approval and compliance case handling, in collaboration with the Hilti's Regional Compliance Officer, North Asia.
- Team Management / Development: Lead, manage and develop a small team of legal counsel & paralegal to support the business operation of Hilti in China.
- Litigation Support: Supervise court, tribunal and mediation proceedings.
- Co-ordination / Liaison: Interface with the Corporate Legal Department of Hilti Corporation, Regional Legal & Compliance Team for global and/or regional projects.
- Engagement of External Counsel: Select and steer outside counsel as required.
- Corporate Housekeeping / Legal Training: Support corporate housekeeping of Hilti's legal entities in China together with external law firms and conducting trainings for General Managers, sales force, marketing, IT and procurement teams.

Why should you apply
- Fully qualified lawyer in China with at least 10-12 years of work experience in legal department from MNCs and/or reputable international / local law firm.
- Relevant experience in a related industry sector (construction / oil & gas industry) or project-related works (i.e. dealing with project owner/EPC/shipyards) is advantageous.
