This role requires a blend of technical and operational skills to ensure all lab systems, hardware, software, and tools are functioning optimally and meet all Infosec and GxP Compliance requirements. The specialist will support lab users by providing technical assistance, troubleshooting, and ensuring adherence to safety and security protocols. This role may involve managing inventory, coordinating with IT support teams, and developing workflows to streamline lab operations, Labs system management and IT service delivery.
The scope of this role is both Taiwan and China Laboratories. The IT Labs operational specialist based in Taiwan will work with IT Service delivery staff in China to ensure they follow consistent SOPs for system management, compliance, information security and technical assistance across both regions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lab Setup & Maintenance: Working with IT teams and vendors to Install, configure, and maintain lab hardware and software, ensuring they are functional and up-to-date. This includes setting up computers, network devices, testing equipment, and other lab-specific tools.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to lab users, troubleshoot issues with lab systems, and offer guidance on using lab equipment. Collaborate with IT support teams to resolve complex issues.Co-system administrator of all LIMS platforms including provisioning of new projects and users.Work in collaboration with IT Infrastructure teams to deliver effective implementations and change management around Lab infrastructure and self-managed systems.
- Inventory Management:Track lab inventory, including computers, software licenses, testing equipment, and peripherals. Manage asset lifecycle, perform regular audits, and reorder supplies as necessary.Develop processes and governance around assignment of commercial licenses to users.
- Documentation & Compliance: Document lab procedures, system configurations, troubleshooting steps. Working with the Quality Assurance and IT compliance teams, Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and safety protocols in the lab.Assist with sponsor audit and inspections.Responsible for system availability and continuity planning for Lab computerised systems. This involves reviewing Backup and DR jobs and testing of the plan, to ensure expected RPO/RTO can be met for each Lab computerized system.Change management and control for Lab computerized system. Conduct risk assessment with stakeholders and complete system change process.
- Workflow Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements to streamline lab operations, reduce downtime, and increase efficiency. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine lab activities.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, developers, IT support, and project managers to understand project needs and ensure the lab environment meets those requirements. Coordinate with vendors for procurement and repairs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in IT support, lab management, or a similar role.
- Proficiency with operating systems (Windows) and networking principles.
- Familiarity with lab management software, inventory tools, and remote access tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
Preferred Skills and experience
- Experience with GLP
- Experience working with compliance and QA teams on client and regulator audits.
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms such as (VMware)
- Knowledge of LIMS platforms and related data flows. Experience with STARLIMS and WATSON highly desirable.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity protocols in lab environments.
