Leads a team of Language Coordinators overseeing written Chinese (traditional and simplified characters) as well as spoken Mandarin and Cantonese
Coordinates and reviews translation, interpretation, and production projects assigned to internal and external resources
Provides translation and interpretation services, and other duties assigned by the Area Translation Manager and from church headquarters
Engages with external translation and interpretation providers for the purposes of onboarding, training, and relationship management
Leads the effort to identify and recruit new translation resources to better serve the requirements of the Chinese languages
Manages and coaches full-time employee team members in their development as Language Coordinators
Qualifications
Native/fluent speaker of Mandarin is a required, Cantonese is a plus
Bachelor's degree (preferably in linguistics, translation, or a related field), with 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in translation and interpretation
3-5 years of people management experience
Exceptional communication skills, functional use of spoken and written English
Expertise in translation and skills in writing, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax of written Chinese (including written language for use in voice-over script translation)
Strong language interpretation skills, simultaneous interpretation experience is strongly preferred
Proven skills in project management, time management, interpersonal communication, problem solving and the ability to work under pressure
Strong track record of delivering projects on time and with a high level of quality
Good understanding of Church doctrine, terms, policies, and ecclesiastical organization
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with operating systems and Microsoft Office
Basic knowledge of graphic design, media production and language recording are a plus
Ability to navigate through translation and business management tools, CAT tools, and web interfaces
