Job Description

Site Quality Manager, a critical position responsible for ensuring quality assurance and control (QAQC) processes are implemented during the construction phase of a project. The role demands close collaboration with various teams to maintain the highest standards of performance, functionality, and safety. Here's a breakdown of the responsibilities, skills, and qualifications required for this position:

Key Responsibilities

Overseeing Quality Assurance and Control

  • The Site Quality Manager is tasked with ensuring that all construction activities adhere to predefined quality standards and project specifications. This involves implementing quality assurance (QA) processes to maintain product integrity and quality control (QC) measures to detect and correct issues during the construction process.

Collaboration with Project Teams

  • The manager will work closely with the Site Construction Lead/Manager and the Regional Quality Manager to ensure that QAQC programs are consistently applied throughout the project. This collaboration ensures that quality standards are met across all teams, including construction, commissioning, procurement, design, and operations.

Review and Approval of Contractor Quality Plans

  • The role involves reviewing the quality plans submitted by contractors and ensuring they align with project requirements. The Site Quality Manager will approve these plans and ensure compliance with set specifications.

Training and Leadership

  • The manager is responsible for training project staff in quality assurance practices, promoting a culture of quality on the job site. This includes organizing quality awareness initiatives and ensuring that the team understands and applies best practices for quality control.

Auditing and Reporting

  • Regular auditing is crucial to the role. The manager will execute quality audits in line with the project's requirements and Microsoft specifications. They will monitor progress, identify non-conformance issues, and ensure corrective actions are taken. The audits serve as a way to verify that the construction is adhering to quality protocols and uncover areas that need improvement.

Performance Analysis and Data-Driven Insights

  • This role requires analyzing quality-related data to provide insights into process adherence and effectiveness. The Site Quality Manager will evaluate performance metrics and prepare reports that help the team make data-driven decisions to improve construction quality and efficiency.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Detailed documentation is essential in this role. The manager will be responsible for preparing audit reports, summarizing non-conformance issues, and providing recommendations for corrective actions. This ensures that quality issues are addressed and that the project complies with standards and best practices.

Required Qualifications and Skills

5-15 Years of Construction Experience

  • The role requires extensive experience in construction, particularly in managing complex projects like data centers or industrial constructions. This experience ensures that the manager has a deep understanding of construction standards, quality management, and problem-solving techniques in large-scale projects.
  • MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) and Civil/Architectural Experience: Given that this is for projects like data centers, the manager must have expertise in overseeing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems as well as civil and architectural work.

Proficiency in Microsoft 360 Suite

  • Microsoft 360 tools (such as Excel, Word, and Teams) are essential for documentation, communication, and tracking quality-related tasks. The Site Quality Manager must be adept at using these tools to manage reports, communicate with teams, and coordinate activities efficiently.

BIM (Building Information Modeling)

  • BIM is a key tool in modern construction. The Site Quality Manager needs to be proficient in BIM to create digital representations of the project, manage data, and collaborate effectively with design and construction teams. BIM helps in visualizing the project and identifying potential issues early, improving overall quality control.

Construction Software

  • Proficiency in construction-specific software (like Bluebeam, PlanGrid, or Procore) is essential for project management, document review, and reporting. These tools help ensure that all construction activities are tracked, audited, and documented properly.

Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical skills are necessary to assess quality performance metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvements. The manager must be able to analyze complex data from audits and quality control tests to ensure the construction project remains on track.

Communication Skills

  • Excellent communication is key for this role. The manager needs to communicate quality standards, audit findings, and corrective actions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This includes presenting reports and explaining technical concepts in a way that all team members can understand.
  • The ability to collaborate with different teams (design, procurement, construction) is also vital to ensure that everyone is aligned with the project's quality objectives.
