Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic
Web Frontend Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team! This internship provides hands-on experience in web development, and offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals. During the 6-month internship, you will:
- Learn to develop highly-available, distributed microservices on a modern tech stack and infrastructure
- Gain proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, gRPC, and React while creating seamless user experiences across both desktop and mobile platforms using responsive design.
- Learn to integrate APIs and build in-house services to enhance the functionality of the Carousell platform.
- Learn how to operate in a full stack product engineering team comprising of backend, native app and web engineers
- Learn how to collaborate with non-tech stakeholders like designers, product managers and other functions
- Experience how product engineering and software development projects are managed and executed in a regional modern tech company.
- Internship Period: 6 months (both full-time and part-time are available, contract starting 2025 February)
You will:
- Program well-designed, maintainable, testable and efficient code
- Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems
- Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
- Participate in code reviews to maintain a high-quality code culture
- Discuss and communicate actively with your mentor and other engineers in the company to seek idea and feedback
Qualifications
You have:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master's degree program
- Knowledge of one or more of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and modern JavaScript libraries
- Passion for writing software and learning the latest software development techniques
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated with strong propensity for action, results and continuous improvement
- A solid foundation in computer science, with competencies in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented software design
- Available for at least 3 working days per week as a part-time intern.
Bonus Points:
- Major in Computer Science or related field
- Excellent communication skill in English (speaking and writing)
