AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.
As a Solutions Architect (SA) within Amazon Web Services (AWS), you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad use of Amazon's utility computing web services including infrastructure, DevOps, business applications, multimedia, machine learning, IoT, desktop applications, and industries solutions.
Your wide duties will include: owning the technical engagement and eventual success around particular implementation projects, building a broad understanding of how applications and services are built utilizing the AWS platform, and becoming an expert in the AWS technologies.
The ideal candidate will have technical knowledge that enables them to easily interact with and provide direction to developers and architects, customer-facing skills that enable them to effectively represent Amazon within a customer's environment, and a technical background that drives discussions with senior staff members within the organization.
Key job responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to accelerate their business outcomes and recommend best-practice cloud architectures in line with their long-term business needs.
- Drive technical solutions discussions with your customers, diving deep into the details to solve complex technical problems and use your knowledge to craft scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures.
- Work backwards from your customer's business needs to accelerate adoption of the most appropriate AWS technology
- Define and execute on the strategy by engaging highly technical teams (Solutions Architects, Technical Account Managers, AWS professional services consultants and consulting/managed services partners).
- Act as a thought leader in the wider community, playing a key role in educating, sharing best practices, presenting at events, writing white papers, blogs, and running workshops.
- Share the voice of the customer to influence the roadmap of new features and services for the AWS platform. Proactively work within the organisation to influence the evolution of the platform.
- Serve as a key technical member of the Solutions Architecture team through influencing decision makers across multiple domains to ensure customer success in building applications and services on the AWS platform which align to long-term business goals.

Basic Qualifications
- Experience in any of the following: Cloud Architecture, Systems Design, Software Development, Infrastructure Architecture, Data Engineering or DevOps
- Experience with two or more of the following: networking fundamentals, security, storage or databases (relational or NoSQL), operating systems (Unix, Linux, or Windows)
- Experience working within the software development or Internet industries is highly desired
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing a cloud-based technology solution
- Experience working in a customer-facing role
- 2+ years of Information Technology (IT) experience
