Overview
Synaptics is looking for a Staff Test Development Engineer to join our dynamic and growing organization. You will develop ATE solutions for complex mixed-signal and RF semiconductor products. This role will develop schematics and direct layout activities for ATE loadboards and probecards for new and innovative ICs. Working closely with OSATs, the Test Development Engineer will release robust production test solutions for offshore manufacturing and will support cost reduction activities such as test time reduction and yield improvement. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Test Development Engineering.
Responsibilities & Competencies
Job Duties
- Contribute to the ATE development (HW and SW) for complex mixed-signal and RF ICs on Teradyne UltraFLEX, Teradyne J750 or Advantest 93k
- Jointly develop test plans with cross functional teams to optimize test coverage while minimizing test cost
- Execute the qualification and characterization test programs on ATE
- Support bench-to-ATE correlation activities for critical device parameters
- Collaborate closely with development team to define DFT, develop new test methods, and debug silicon issues
- Work with Design and Systems Engineering teams to ensure testability of new devices
- Work on test time reduction, increased site count/throughput, and yield enhancement activities
- Develop complete ATE Qualification, Characterization, and Production test programs
- Design multi-site device interface boards to optimally test ICs
- Regularly and clearly update core team and management on ATE development status
Competencies
- Experience testing key mixed-signal circuits (ADCs, DACs, PLLs, filters, SerDes) and/or experience with RF devices and RF test measurements (Power, Gain, IQ, Phase Noise, EVM, IP2, IP3)
- Ability to utilize different device protocols (I2C, JTAG, SDIO, etc.) to communicate with device
- Proactive, self-starter, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment to complete projects on time with minimal guidance
- Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate
- Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions and explore new ideas
- Resourceful and able to solve problems through adapting technology and a solid understanding of product architecture
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills, including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly to both technical teams and product level teams at the appropriate level of detail
- Ability to work within diverse, geographically distributed teams, with the passion to become part of cross-functional teams as necessary to ensure testability
Qualifications (Requirements)
- Bachelor's degree (masters preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field, or equivalent
- 8+ years of experience in test development for mixed-signal or RF semiconductor devices
- Proven track record of delivering robust IC test solutions for complex products in the semiconductor industry
- Hands on experience with Teradyne UltraFLEX, Teradyne J750 or Advantest 93K platforms
- Experience with System-level test, troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Deep knowledge of MBIST, JTAG, SCAN and IDDQ, including vector translation from standard formats to ATE-compatible vector
- Experience with regression testing and ability to track issues through product cycles
- Ability to travel internationally up to 10%
