Job Description
This engineer would be part of the Computer Products Group (CPG) Applications Engineering team in Microchip's Hauppauge, New York Office, who will work on microprocessor-based products that go into tablets, desktops, notebooks, and embedded systems. You will be mentored and work on all phases of applications development & deployment. This includes understanding all product functions from the design specifications, developing software and or hardware to exercise the device, and supporting customers deployment the product functions. You will work closely with architects, designers, validation engineers as well as customers facing marketing/sales/FAE team.
Responsibilities Include
- Developing MCU firmware primitive/low level code modules, real-time kernel, host applications/utilities
- Supporting customers for deploying CPG division products
- Write collaterals such as Application Notes, Design Guides, and User Manuals.
- Assist design customers facing evaluation board (schematic, layout, fabrication)
- Assist and train FAEs/customers
- Support sales/marketing efforts including building demos
Requirements/Qualifications
Candidates must have
- Proficiency in C or C++
- Understanding of embedded microprocessor design and internal architecture.
- Experience in both digital and analog circuitry designs
- Knowledge of personal computer hardware and architecture, I/O subsystems, address decoding, programmable peripheral ICs and keyboard controllers
- Proficiency in developing and debugging embedded microcontroller firmware.
- An understanding of firmware assembly is a plus.
- Good mix of hardware and software design experience as well as practical lab experience
- Strong proficiency using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and other test equipment
- Should be self-starters and project-oriented
- Should possess good interpersonal skills as team members on projects
- Willing and capable of comprehending and applying industry standard specifications such eSPI, LPC, QSPI, I2C/SMBus, I3C, USB, MCTP, PECI, PCI, Cryptographic Security functions, CAN, etc.
- Serious candidates should have at least twelve years of industry experience, good communication skills, and no objection to travel
